Not a pre-flight finding, but...an apocryphal tale.
Two CA$A FOIs were refreshing each other in an R-22 doing touchdown autos at Camden (small towered airfield SW of Sydney).
After a rather...firm...landing, the FOI calls "Ready."
"Are you sure?" says the tower.
"Yes, ready" says FOI.
"I don't think you are, the tail is lying on the ground behind you."
