Bakhmut is one I cannot get my head around, Ukraine has been using Nato style tactics effectively up until now and although they are depleting Russia's troops in the area of Bakhmut it comes with a cost, It almost feels like Ukraine is fighting to hold the city on Russia's terms and tactics, they have learnt to keep their supplies back out of range of Himars and are using artillery firepower to try and inflict the most damage on the Ukrainians, it is almost a Russian WW1 mentality for a city they said early on that had no strategic relevance. It also appears to be buying Russia time.
