In any case, Bell had designed in the option for folding for a naval variant from the start of the V280 program and that work may have even preceded V247. They wanted it to be able to operate from shipboard hangars that can accommodate an H-60. Folded up, they say a V280 would occupy the same cubic "box" as a folded UH-1Y.
