The grounding can take a long time. I witnessed the results of a storm this past spring that blew a long row of power lines onto a major street by snapping the poles that the cables are mounted onto. Many cars were trapped under the cables. There was a guy with thick gloves and special long-handled tools to clip the bypass cables between wires. It was three hours to complete this. Obviously, it will be slower for something a hundred feet off the ground.
