I'm not a good swimmer - so I got a swim coach to help me. I had 4 coaching sessions (one per week) plus I swam nearly every day for about a month at my local pool. I then got a lifeguard to assess me and sign the form.
Thanks Hound123, that's a great idea. I may invest some time too if I get past the AD
