As pointed out the APS doesn't necessarily benefit you in terms of passing an airline assessment. What else can they determine in that short time, other than that you're not retarded?
As far as I've heard the benefit of APS starts after passing the assessment.

According to the MCC/APS training providers you are RYR's number 1 in the assessments and 97% passes the assessment with MCC/APS. Maybe the APS itself does not benefit you during the assessment but having an MCC/APS from one of their training partners might help them initially with selecting you for an assessment. This is an assumption but it sounds plausible..
