It just reinforces the view that appeasement is more dangerous than opposition. The missile in Poland is a missed oppotunity, given that Putin & co only respond to strength. At the least, a symbolic gesture (like Poland's Migs to Ukraine as discussed previously) would send the clear signal that the western alliance is determined. We are so open that all the dissent is provided on a plate to Moscow and a firm stance is the only thing that will make the Kremlin think again.
