One thing that has been missing from the publicly available reports I've seen is an assessment of the level of internal opposition within Russia to this war. Every war always has some within the aggressor state that object to the actions of their government, and very often some of those that object to their ruler's objectives choose to take direct action. We had saboteurs in the UK during both recent world wars and the French resistance played a significant part in defeating Nazi Germany. We have seen a few unexplained explosions within Russia, but there seems to be very little information as to whether these were accidents, the result of Russian partisans that object to Putin's actions or whether they are Ukrainian special forces operating covertly within Russia. There may even be a slim chance that there are groups from former Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact states that are acting as saboteurs within Russia.
If this carries on, I wonder how long it will be before someone very close to Putin, like Sergei Shoigu, takes a bullet for him, or suffers from a forced defenestration?
