Every year or two something like this happens and us enthusiasts bemoan the lack of spare airframes but I can only assume they have run the numbers and it makes more financial sense to operate as they do by a significant margin. Yes, but in DUB they have a fleet they can shuffle around to recover lost time. With one aircraft you can't. It literally takes days for it to get back on schedule after a lengthy delay.
Maybe when/if IDY comes back it will make life easier.
