Be mindful that not long before the Mig 9 flew that Patton had been pushing for continuing eastward into Russia. I’m sure the Russian higher command had knowledge of Pattons thoughts. The push to have an anti-bomber aircraft for the Allies to consider were likely the reason for just getting the Mig 9 up there - worry about it working later.
The Mig 9 is certainly a nice aircraft to look at. The wing outline reminds me of something? I reckon it would make a lovely little scaled down kit built..
