Jason, it is all about safety. A turbine engine even a single engine is safer than a piston engine more so if the piston engine is turbocharged. Mind you Avgas is such a scarce commodity or difficult to arrange and mega expensive.
Mineral resource companies avoid anything single engine, even turbines. Twin engine and airframe age limits apply to some contracts.
There is no Search and Rescue in PNG.
The operators collaborate when something goes wrong; that's the way it's done. When Tropicair experienced at turbine failure in a Caravan some years ago, and with a sad outcome, it was opposition companies first on scene to assist.
