The Air Atlantique DC-6 coming over South London in the small hours was a regular treat for several years after I moved into this house in 1997; just sounded so good fading gently into the still night. Not sure just how long ago it stopped, but I'd think it was no more than 20 years ago, probably a little less.
Arriving at the house on winter evening, low cloud and drizzle, what was most likely the DC-6 was notably approaching, and spectacularly thundered overhead in the gloom, must have been at minimum IFR 3,000 ft, going all out, routing over the London City NDB.
