I'm thinking it might be the old version of FF that's being the stick in the mud. You could try installing a newer version direct from Mozilla:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo...esktop-release It's a tar.bz2 file rather than a package so you'll need to manually install it - basically unzip the file & place the resulting directory where you wish. Make sure you run FF from that directory & not by clicking on the current icon.
