I did around five hours on the Cessna 152 before switching to PA38/28. As far as I recall the view down in the Cessna was good, although the high wing made it difficult to scan above the aircraft.
As my Cessna time was very early on in training, I hadn't even started trying to land so cannot comment on that.
Low wing Pipers do make it easy to check the fuel tanks, something that as an old git I really appreciate...
