The red light on the bottom of the mouse is on, but the mouse does no work.
Then it might not be hardware related.
Go to
Start >>
Control Panel >>
System >>
Hardware Tab >>
Device Manager Button >>
View >>
Recourses by Connection
Then click on the [+] next to
Interrupt Request (IRQ) and post every IRQ and every Device on each IRQ.
