Absolutely correct Megan (Post #3). At Scampton in the early 70’s, Works & Bricks decided to install storage heaters (electrically heating up bricks so they would keep the houses warm) in AMQ. I don’t know if there was a less efficient or more expensive way of doing things but ‘electric bricks’ was a real contender. Waking up to ice on the inside of the bedroom was a fair indication of how effective they were. And us lower ranks going into Lincoln and having to apply for Supplementary Benefits was an embarrassing and disgraceful state of affairs. Being posted to Germany showed how things should be done.
