But why would you, if you release them it could have a negative effect on moral etc, Russia does not release theirs, the figures you see are Ukrainian estimations or those based on photographic evidence of knocked out vehicles.
Releasing figures of your own casualties and losses in an area would be working to the Russians advantage, as they can then estimate the effect of their actions as they will be aware of their own losses.
They will also have an estimate of the forces opposing them, so by telling them how many you have lost they can re-estimate your disposition and take advantage of weaknesses in the line.
A bad move and to be frank, firk the press.
