The airport pushed for 4 trains an hour, as part of the EMR franchise agreement, but ended up with 2, which is still better than one. The whole experience now though is very disappointing compared to the old rolling stock and is a major downgrade. The airport will be able to claim a 30 minute journey time between terminal and London via the Dart so it will look good on paper but I feel EMR want to discourage airport passengers from London in using the service by providing no luggage space.
Is Thameslink, which serves Gatwick and Luton, any better for luggage ? Seem to recall it being awkward even offpeak. During the rush periods luggage would be an antisocial nuisance !
