I believe they work up each Spring at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, for more reliable weather. Setting off now after the Easter holidays. It was eventually realised that Red crews, and indeed all the support teams, being experienced RAF personnel, commonly had young families, and not allowing them any leave during school holiday periods when airshows peak was a significant downside for joining, leading to family dissatisfaction and indeed some not signing up for it.
Doesn't apply, of course, to the crews of Tui, Jet2, etc !
