If their readiness rate increases due to that support (parts, spares, etc) it should result in the ability to generate more sorties on a given day. That is how I parsed the intentionally vague points being made by Mr Kirby.
(One's operational limit may then hinge upon crew fatigue factors, fuel, or armaments like missiles, bullets, etc).
