caution: if one focuses on the body count, one may think that
by any objective measure one is winning a war, until one finds out that one isn't.
(I confess that what makes some of this scoreboard watching very distasteful to me is that someone else is doing the fighting, bleeding, and dying... all the while knowing that nobody will come; there is no cavalry coming to save the day).
The conflicts end, and its end state, remain in doubt.
If
this article is correct (it may or may not be) then Mr Putin seems content to wage a war of attrition, and of destruction along the lines of "if I can't have it you can't either"
