Notable that quite a lot of what we have "seen on our computer" is actually the opposite, a follow-up after seeing or hearing something pass overhead.
Oh for FlightRadar some years ago. One I recall was some huge turboprop noise, somewhat after midnight, passing over London City, It rumbled and droned on for about 10 minutes, a complex series of interlaced sounds. I have long convinced myself it was the Antonov 22, heavily loaded, possibly out of Brize Norton and headed for The Gulf. On a couple of other occasions there has been a notably low R-2800 or similar sound coming loud and low over the rooftops, in the days when there were still DC-6s, or indeed DC-3s, around. But they weren't running VFR because it was fully low cloud and raining (and me getting wet looking up into the passing noise).
