This helped me understand the financial stick that's being used and helped me understand that the SWIFT stuff is minor - the body blow is preventing central bank access to the US and Europe and freezing all the liquid assets. As much as one likes see things happening on the ground, it seems like this will deliver a more potent effect.
The level of financial preparation and the long time it has been underway suggest that some dustup has been expected for a long time. I wonder if Ukraine is really the end goal - I cannot help thinking that it isn't.
