By that rationale, how dare they join direct as FOs - why don't all new recruits to the company join as CC, or sweeping the hangar? And likewise the CEO! Maybe because experience is important.
He or she didn’t say they felt “entitled” to a command, but that they should be offered the chance if they were suitable, which is entirely different. As far as experience goes an F/O with 3 to 6 years experience at Fz will have somewhere between 2400 to 4800 hours on the 737 in flydubai’s operations plus whatever hours they joined with, probably a minimum of 2500 and many with a lot more than that, so certainly enough for an upgrade if they pass the various checks. And Flydubai don’t give commands away, or at least they never used to, upgradees have to earn it.

Why would a captain with 5000 hrs from Ryanair doing European ops be better than an f/o upgrading with the same number of hours in the ME, Africa, India, Russia and Europe with flydubai ?
