Supreme council of Ukraine (Verkhovna Rada) is making fast legal changes to allow citizens to buy weapons more easily.
This should make it easier for citizens with determination to resist the aggressor.
Looking at the restrictions underneath it occurs that the soviet era NSV fits the bill quite nicely, if one happens to fancy protecting his/hers property from an aggressor.
Rada took a step towards the legalization of weapons
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine today, February 23, adopted in the first reading the bill "On the right to civilian firearms" No. 5708, which legalizes the right to purchase firearms for Ukrainians . 274 deputies voted for.
Article 7 of the bill provides for permission for citizens to own firearms and ammunition belonging to individuals and legal entities, except for:- smooth-bore short-barreled firearms designed to fire cartridges;
- rifled weapons with a caliber greater than 12.7 mm, if the speed of its bullet exceeds 700 m/s;
- revolvers;
- long-barreled smooth-bore firearms with a caliber greater than 27 millimeters;
- overhead rifled barrels for smooth-bore firearms;
- armour-piercing, explosive or incendiary ammunition, as well as projectiles for such ammunition;
- ammunition, specially designed to enhance the penetrating and destructive effect.
