@Duca: I'm also considering a switch into professional flying, but only on a freelance/ seasonal contract. I think at the airlines, it would be difficult.
I would try bizjet-operators or ACMI-operators. But flying for these companies will not give you a salary to live of. So to have a plan B and stay part time in a good paying job would be wise.
When gained some experience, there will maybe better offers. But be prepared to pay for ratings and maybe other training expenses.
By the way: During my MCC/ JOC our instructor told us about a dentist, who flew for Germania on a part-time basis, but he paid for the rating (and maybe for the line-training).
