I paid for my PPL flying, and still pay for hire, by keeping a modest amount of credit in my account with the school. When that’s exhausted they remind me and I top up. I typically make $1,000 deposits. That avoids messing about with payments every time I fly and it reduces my exposure in case of problems. My log book makes it very easy to check on their accounting, so far it’s bang on.
