I was my understanding that engines were sealed before the start of the race and starting the engine would break the seal and disqualify the yacht. So you couldn't withdraw from the race because of engine issues because you were automatically disqualified once you attempted to start the engine. Maybe the rules have changed since my last S2H (of which there are approximately zero!)
