Best thing to do is make sure the Windows Media Player and DirectX are updated on the notebook.
Use the Windows Update service at
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to make sure everything on the computer is up to date, specifically these two items.
Also make sure the video drivers are up to date - let me know if you need more help than that and I'll fill out the instructions a bit more.
