Yes, MEL need not apply when airborne, but it can be useful to refer to for the notes, and possible operational procedures and consequences.
I would just inform ATC and follow their instructions. As long as you can maintain RVSM, and TCAS remains operational, I can't see a problem with continuing that flight?
