It'll be cheaper to get an EASA IR. They're 40 hours now via CBIR, the same as FAA part 61, so there's no advantage to getting the FAA IR first anymore. Unless you actually want an FAA IR. It's probably still a decent option if you're starting from scratch: FAA PPL then IR then 50 hours PIC is logical to do in a nice sunny climate. Do the maths and see what makes sense. Flying in the US is a lot more fun.
