Nothing has changed, my son worked as a baggage handler for a year maybe 3 years ago on I think a 20 hour minimum contract. The company he worked for employed a permanent recruitment agency to constantly find replacement staff for the stream that left every month. Once employed they would work directly for the employment agency for so many months and then work directly for the employer where the 6 month probation period would start again. Some days he would indeed work just for 4 hours and would then return home. The airport also took their cut by charging him a weekly car park charge. Just getting to and from the car park by airport bus would add a good 30 minutes to his day. By the time travel costs were added it was not worth getting out of bed for short shift days.
