The purpose of the vaccine is purely to help keep pressure off the hospitals (and to stop people getting gravely ill).
It’s just a numbers game.
If 1,700 people per million catch it per day and 1.5% go to hospital with it, then they just need to ensure that the numbers of beds exist, by roping in private hospitals etc, or perhaps the new Victorian centre for national resilience.
If only 70% are vaccinated, that means of the 30% remaining as unvaccinated, that up to 2-3% will die (tying up hospital beds) and perhaps up to 8% will need a hospital bed, so that won’t be acceptable to the state government.
The more beds ready and the higher the vaccination rate, the sooner the doors fly open and the free-for-all starts!
