LLAOL have saved millions be refusing to pay any concession fees so keeping all the dosh. It is the Luton residents that have suffered due to a double whammy of actions by the airport owner and the airport operator. Both have received money from the government while the Luton Council taxpayer has been screwed by extra demands for money and cutbacks due to its airport.
As for jobs, there is actually now a recruitment crisis in parts of the airport after people left or were made redundant. People no longer want to work there for as little as £7.50 an hour on a 24/7 shift patten. Begs the question where will the airport get the staff for an expanded airport now many workers have headed east across Europe.
