An MPL isn't entirely useless without the 1500 hrs. It seems like some airlines have started to recognise it as a valid license. For example, Eurowings, who are
currently looking for FOs accept cadets with an MPL.
Also in the worst case you can convert an MPL to a Frozen ATPL by completing the remaining hours/ratings.
