My high end business laptop grinds to a halt with X-Plane.
I choose, for the occasions I do a bit of simulator flying, to use the old Microsoft FS-X, which is massively less power hungry, and if you shop around there are some pretty good aircraft models. The graphics are nothing special, but I don't really care about that - it's the flight model that matters.
