Windows 10 update and Open (Classic) Shell

Users of the Classic Shell (more recently Open Shell) interface for Windows may have noticed that it is no longer functional since the most recent W10 upgrade. The most oft reported issue seems to be that when the Shell Start button is pressed, the expected drop down menu flashes briefly on the screen and then disappears. Workarounds to get some control of the computer have been discovered, but only with the standard W10 start menu as the substitute. It may only be an issue with those people who, like myself, who have always operated with the Task Bar at the top on the screen.

One solution for the present is to move (drag) the task bar to the left hand side of the screen; the Shell features then seem to be restored.

The Open Shell team is aware of it, so a more satisfactory solution may appear in a future upgrade.
