In example 2 it states:
Given:
TOD GW: 62750 kg
Flight Level: FL290
Temp: ISA
Cruise Schedule .82 M
Wind component: -40 kt
Segments: Y-TOD: 204 nam
X-Y: 342 nam
Enter Table FL290/.82M curis ISA with GW 62750 kg
Extract Cruise distance from Wt of 62800 kg: 870 nam
Calculate Air distance Y-TOD - Add : +222 nam
= 1092 nam
How are they getting the +222 nam?
It is possible you could show working ta.
Note: The ANM or NAM as per 'handbook' tells us the distance the 727 travels in air. As there is a headwind the aircraft will have to fly further the than 204NM.
Y - TOD:
204 GNM /
GS: 485-40 = 445 KT / ETI: 204/445 = 0.458 HR (27.5MIN)
Y - TOD:
222 ANM /
TAS: 485 KT / TAS x ETI [Y - TOD] = ANM
