I see the Mods have removed the aggressive posts of the scumbags. Jolly good. I’m glad to see they’re finally waking up and taking this seriously.
I didn’t request that by the way - I have no problem with mere abuse, and indeed I regard their words as further evidence to all readers that there is a cohort of sh1ts I in any forum who would enjoy perpetrating any slander they like against other users as long as their own privacy is safe and they can’t be prosecuted. Any one of you could be next. Maybe you’ll feel differently if it ever happens to you or your family and loved ones.

This law is long overdue in Hong Kong - a city which has some of the tightest personal privacy regulations I’ve ever come across, yet was silent on this poisonous practice. It has nothing to do with the NSL, it is a separate Bill which stands on its own. Nor is it simple authoritarianism. Many countries rely on anti stalking and anti harassment statutes to prosecute, while others make it an actual offense. Even in the US, the State of Nevada is currently advancing a Bill to make doxxing a felony offense. Others will probably follow. The main difference in creating specific legislation is that it also puts an onus on the ‘publisher’ (the website and its mods) to stamp out the abuse or face bans and penalties.

True, the move in HKG has been accelerated by the behavior of some of the recent protesters, but I consider that a timely wake up call, nothing more. I have no problem at all with legitimate protest, but doxxing of posters is where I draw the line.
