Back in the 70's there was a Buccaneer that flew sideways on approach with BLC on. It was returned to Holme on Spalding Moor for investigation and extensive rigging checks did not reveal any fault in the flying controls. It was decided to measure the width of all the blowing slits using feeler gauges at 3 inch intervals along each wing, to see if there was any discrepancy from one wing to the other. This was inconclusive so it was decided that the slit dimensions should be rechecked when the ducting along the leading and trailing edges was hot, after an extended ground run, BLC on. There were a few burnt fingers and hands as a result. Unfortunately I can't remember the outcome of the whole exercise.
