This all could be seen coming even back in the late 70's. The "traditional " understanding of a museum as being a place to find reference and education was subsumed. Even then, the concept of it being a repository for study was being overtaken by looking at the "Mum, Dad and two kids on a day out" model which even then,with transport costs, incurred a likely outlay of over £100. Visitor numbers became the supreme criteria for funding consideration. So the "family fun fair " concept then dominated.
So now we have "Service Hats" instead of real Service History , "Talking Heads ", lacking relevant background knowledge rather than Technical Authorities and "Show" over substance.
The Buccaneer video is but one example of the inevitable consequences.
