Buried in the report is that the cost of the Dart, which at the very beginning was quoted at £200m, but soon became £225m, then increased to £243m early this year, has now risen again to an eye watering £283m. For good measure the DCO application has now risen from £50m to £65m.
No doubt by the time the Dart opens the bill will be £300m, which will be a 50% overspend.
All this from a company with no income that for good measure will take on new staff but placed on the council payroll while hundreds of staff have been made redundant. Not a good day for the airport or the town
