Beardy, that's interesting. He's fortunate that he was an adult when he lost his sight. In previous cases, where adults who have been blind since birth have had their sight 'restored' (not really restored, as they never had it), while they have been able to see light and dark and different colours, the necessary brain connections have not developed to allow them to recognise objects.
AFAIK, they never developed.
