Whether I have been extremely lucky, or have low standards(!), but in my time as a living in single officer from 1985 to 1995 (and as an occasional bean stealer thereafter [courses etc.]) I never had any issues with either accommodation or food across UK and RAFG. At a rough guess this covered over a dozen different units (vast majority flying stations). I was more than capable of waking up in the morning, making my own tea, ironing my uniform and bulling my shoes (on the odd occasion 'blues' was required) without need of a servant to do it for me.
My only bad experience with married quarters was at Bushey but that was far more to do with the location than the accommodation.
Can't, though, speak for the OR/JNCO/SNCO/WO accommodation.
