This reminds me of Linton on Ouse where the navigation "simulator" was known as the Type Instrument Trainer, or TIT. Unfortunately, one edition of the Station telephone directory contained a misprint, and the phone number of the trainer was incorrectly given. This led to the situation where a student rang the number but stupidly asked the woman from WAAF Admin on the other end of the phone if he could book one of her TITs for the afternoon. Soon afterwards, the equipment was renamed the Jet Provost Instrument Trainer or JPIT.
