I hear what you say, though if there was no pilot shortage why were Ryanair subsidizing type ratings pre pandemic, they cannot seriously cost 10k euros!!! Ryanairs own guff regarding their mentored scheme was venting frustration at the high failure rate on the pre type rating assessments (50% failure non mentored), so yes, no pilot shortage, maybe only shortage of good pilots. There are CPL's & CPL's. As for the pre pandemic class, if Ryanair have paid into their training why not call them back, genuine question?
Just trying to make sense of this mess, good luck anyone reading this
