Just some points:

If Ryanair have not called back the type rated students pre pandemic, why is this, especially given these guys were the 10k euro batch, so Ryanair have put monies on those, while there may be profit on type ratings at 29k euros there defiantly is not at 10k.

There is huge customer pent up demand, coupled with the MAX delays suggests Ryanairs recovery will be stronger than most (as their growth pre pandemic was stunted owing to no MAX planes), unless another MAX does a nose dive somewhere.

Not defending Ryanair at all, a 29k type rating with no job guarantee is garbage, hoping the situation has recovered somewhat when I graduate in about 12 months (will be able to see what happens to this lot first), can stomach the type rating cost but only if there is a guaranteed job or the rating is valid somewhere else (it is not). Ultimately O'Leary is responding to supply & demand, pilot shortage pre pandemic (hence 10k type ratings, O'Leary gives nothing away for free), they might change their mind if other airlines open recruitment, anyone heard if Jet2 are restarting that apprenticeship at all? EasyJet unceremoniously shot their MPL golden goose, so any recovery there they would have to recruit out the same modular pile as Ryanair.

Good luck all, what a mess
