If it’s not for work purposes then in theory, no, not legitimate.
The exemption that was circulated by certain aero clubs last lockdowns would not be relevant in this case, as that was targeted towards those that needed to fly to keep the engines circulating. There were people doing those flights with transponders off so that peanut keyboard warriors with nothing better to do, couldn’t track them on Flight Radar 24.
This is a perfect example of one of the limited number of benefits of being a flying YouTuber... you need to fly to make your content and you can’t work from home!
