No its not a qualification but no one said it was. Its a position and the money and time off is not bad. The last couple of Chief Pilots are ex BCs. In fact some of the most senior management pilots and Chief Pilots that I know of in other airlines were ex BCs and Base Pilot managers. It only seems irrelevant to you but clearly within the senior management structures of airlines it isnt irrelevant. That might be of interest to some people. Is that so hard to understand?
Most of the BCs are alright guys. There are exceptions... like everywhere. I presume you are not a fan of your current BC. Sorry to hear that!
