An angle grinder and some velcro would have removed the requirement for MCAS.
They did try that - or at least they tried
revising the leading edge stall strip. They also tried modifying the leading edge vortilons and a
revised wing vortex generator pattern but none could be made to work so they borrowed MCAS from the 767 tanker.
